Meet The Naked And Famous: David Beadle, Thom Powers, Aaron Short, Jesse Wood, and Alisa Xayalith. A five piece band from Auckland, NZ who began their career as an electro/pop/indie duo (Alisa Xayalith & Thom Powers who met at a music school). Since then they’ve released two EPs in 2008, “This Machine” and “No Light”, as well as a studio album “Passive Me, Aggressive You”. This album features the hit single “Young Blood” which won the New Zealand APRA Awards for 2010’s years best-written song on a commercial release. I must say this album easily takes a place right next to MGMT’s “Time to Pretend”. Their atmospheric lyrics and tumb tumping sounds creates such ecstatic, uplifting, synth-pop mix. You can now catch them live in their Los Angeles debut at Bardot in Hollywood along with HANDS and a DJ set by Jason Bentley from KCRW.
