LIVE REVIEWS & PHOTOS : Dead Sara at the Roxy

Indie rock group Dead Sara made their second live appearance since writing their forthcoming debut album. Filled with uncontrollable energy and raw ambition, this quartet performed a magnificent event that conquered new fans across the floor. Their showcase is a mixture of controlled chaos and peaceful destruction during any given song.

Lead singer Emily Armstrong appeared as a caged demon while screaming away at the microphone. They started the evening playing mellow tracks heavily influenced by jazz and blues that highlighted Armstrong’s abilities as a vocalist. As the night continued, Guitarist Siouxsie Medley and drummer Sean Friday shifted the musical direction by adding aggressive tones causing fans to respond with movement. Armstrong transformed into maniacal woman multiple times throughout the night while feeding of Medley’s rhythm sound waves.

During their set list, Weatherman expressed their ambitious path towards a much heavier direction yet anchored soft melodies within the song. Bassist Chris Null added dynamic mellow vibrations that flowed seamlessly with every track. Armstrong’s stage dominance is a force to be reckoned with. She ended the night by climbing onto the massive speakers and leaping into midair as the band continued playing. With an album due later this spring, expect this Los Angeles band to host multiple home shows.
