Electro pop musical duo Uh Huh Her performed at the sold out El Rey Theatre, playing material from their forthcoming sophomore album Nocturnes. Led by a dynamic paring of Laisha Hailey and Camila Grey, they instantly thrilled the large audience for over an hour while blending layers of moody synthesizers and seductive beats.
The night began with vibrant red lights illuminating the stage and fog machines consuming the air. Lead singer Camila danced early on while strumming her guitar to “Not Another Love Song” which the audience sang along to. Laisha expressed her musical versatility during each song, as she alternated from pop hybrid keyboards to resilient bass line hooks. Although sharing singing duties throughout the night, Laisha focused more on harmony vocals and instruments, while appearing innocently flirtatious with the crowd. As the night continued, “I love You” and “Marry Me” screams could be heard from multiple sections of the venue, causing the band to blush when detected. The song “Explode” caused a suiting reaction from the immense crowd as they erupted with loud screams and sang in unison.
Uh Huh Her combine a mixture of new wave, indie and pop driven melodies into a tightly knit musical enticement. They are quickly gaining notoriety across all musical outlets nationwide. Expect their album to be released sometime this summer. They continue their 8 week Spring tour through May.
