If fans in the United Kingdom new that James Morrison was performing at a nightclub with a capacity of fewer than 300 people, lines would form across countless city blocks to experience the show live. Having sold over 4.5 million records worldwide, the English singer has conquered European, Australian and Japanese audiences one concert at a time. With North America in his crosshairs, he scheduled a New York and Los Angeles event, filling intimate clubs with fragile lighting as he seduced fans with an acoustic guitar.

James Morrison’s raspy voice fit perfectly at The Sayers Club off Wilcox in Hollywood. The darkly lit club had fans sitting a few feet in front of Morrison, as he strummed his acoustic guitar vigorously during his hour-long performance. Accompanied by two back up female singers, a drummer and keyboardist, his “unplugged sessions” event had a strong turn out in Los Angeles. Through word of mouth and fan dedication, the free concert series attracted a large audience, causing people to be turned away at the door. The setting provided an intimate experience for everyone present, causing loud cheers and support after each song.

Due to the private setting, Morrison shared intimate stories with the audience between songs. He revealed his comical side, resulting in strong laughter and support as he poked fun about his personal encounters. With a small and limited audience, Morrison took advantage by sharing what influenced some of his songs. ‘Slave To The Music,’ Morrison’s second single off his latest album ‘The Awakening’ was inspired by Michael Jackson. Morrison shared that Jackson appeared before him in a vision and he immediately knew a song had to be written. He began singing in a much higher pitched voice while attempting to maintain a straight face but quickly broke into smiles as the crowd cheered him on.

Morrison ended his ten song set list with a strong encore request by the audience. ‘Wonderful World’ ended the night, as tambourines and electric keys with fine tuned guitars competed with the unison clapping from fans. Morrison’s easy listening songs have enough momentum and energy to be the next big thing to hit American airwaves. His third Album ‘The Awakening’ was released last September, selling half a million records worldwide. With a North American spring tour in development, make sure to catch James Morrison in action, you wont be disappointed.
