“The caliber of original songs submitted during this years’ Guitar Center Singer-Songwriter competition has been unbelievable,” said John Shanks, Grammy winning producer set to judge the final round of the competition. “I knew right away that I had to do it right, I had to listen to the entire list of submissions. With such abundant talent, just choosing the 10 finalists was tough, and now it’s time we hand-pick the ultimate winner to go on and make a record.”
“The overwhelming response that we have experienced through this years’ submission process goes to show that there is a huge pool of musicians out there that are looking for a way to have their talent discovered,” says Dustin Hinz, director of music and entertainment marketing + artist relations for Guitar Center. “We developed Singer-Songwriter as part of our continued effort to provide emerging artists with the tools and opportunity needed in an ever-changing music business.
