Powered by front woman the very talented guitarist and vocalist Nina Diaz, Girl In A Coma came onstage at the EchoPlex and played it like it was a big arena. With Jen Alva driving the bass and Phanie Diaz on the drums, this girl trio is the perfect blend of 80’s punk rock, grunge and talent. They opened with One Eyed Fool and Diaz’s vocals were solid and she showed immense vocal control, going from a sweet whisper to a powerful growl. Most of their set was from their recently released Exits & All the Rest and a few others from Adventures in Coverland. GIAC played for a little over ninety minutes and the audience was enthralled and when they came out for their encore “Femme Fatele”, they killed it with this 80’s punk rock-pop song. The girls are signed with Joan Jett’s label and their sound is definitely influenced by the Runaways’s immortal bad-ass sound.
