Live Review and Photos by: Mary Grace McKernan
On June 8th, last Friday night, Eve6 played to a packed house at the infamous Whisky A Go-Go. The event was presented by KROQ in support of the movie Rock Of Ages. The set consisted equally of Eve6’s past hits and songs off their new LP, “Speak In Code” released on April 24th. They led off with “Situation Infatuation” from “Speak In Code” and although the song has been out less then a month the crowd did a sing a-long with Max Collins. Between songs Max spoke to the audience and before they played “Tongue Tied” asked the audience to get ready to pogo on his cue. And when Max gave the cue everyone started jumping in unison.
Eve6 formed in the mid nineties, broke up in 2004 and reunited in 2007 and has been together ever since. Max thanked the audience for remaining loyal fans between record releases and with the release of “Speak In Code” and the performance on Friday, it was well worth the wait. Max Collins has a stage presence that comes with time and talent. Jon Siebels who plays guitar and backing vocals seemed mellow to Max’s high-energy performance. They rounded out the evening with the audience revered “Inside Out”. “Open Road Song” and their encore was “Rescue”. It was a stunning performance at a timeless venue.
