OM have announced US tour dates this August in support of their new album Advaitic Songs, slated for release through Drag City on July 24th. As a live entity the group incomparable; a wholly entrancing convergence of beautifully expansive song structures, deeply hypnotic grooves, and subsuming volume that is as spiritual and transcendent as it is visceral. The dates find the group originating in Chicago and working their way East for dates including Montreal, Toronto, New York, and DC, among several other cities. Western US dates are also anticipated in the coming months.
The dates arrive on the heels of NPR’s premiere of an edited version of album track “Gethsmane”, the second taste fans have of the new full length. It’s immense low end, meticulously detailed string arrangements, genre-defying musical themes, and cyclical groove are a worthy indicator of the album’s incredible depths of sound and thematic purpose, detailing once again the degree to which OM stand alone in sound and approach.
