The Sea and Cake is pleased to release the 2nd single, “On and On” from their upcoming LP,Runner, to be released September 18th via Thrill Jockey Records. “On and On” is the album opener, setting the breezy tone that comes to define the record. The Runner LP is pressed in special green vinyl, which is currently up for pre-order here. The Sea and Cake deliver an album with the freshness and energy of a new band, and the ease and musicianship that can only come with experience.
As previous announced you can download and share “Harps” here. The Sea and Cake will be embarking on a North American Fall Tour – see all dates and ticket links below.
In celebration of their 20th anniversary, Thrill Jockey will be hosting a concert series and re-issuing a slew of LPs including four from The Sea and Cake.
Runner began as the companion piece to 2011′s mini-album, The Moonlight Butterfly, and using that album’s sonic experimentations as a starting point for a new process of writing and recording became something completely new. The band worked remotely for a portion of this record and it comes across in the songwriting and the storytelling. Songs that began as synthesizer experiments in Sam Prekop’s home studio were reimagined by the other members, and eventually recorded and mixed by John McEntire at Chicago’s Soma Studios.
