Despite being in the midst of legal troubles, a certain Atlanta rapper has found time to drop a new track for his fans. Hot off the debut of his well-received album, Barter 6, Young Thug has been putting out mixtapes and records nonstop, including features on tracks with Rae Sremmurd, Nicki Minaj, and Juicy J, the omnipresent hip-hop star simply seems to refuse to slow down.
“Pacifier” is produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, a go-to producer for young hip-hop newcomers and veteran R&B stars alike, although the song is a bit of a departure for both artist and producer. Gone are the hazy productions that we’ve gotten used to, and in its place is a banging 808 and bassline that recalls the crunk hip-hop party jams of the late 90’s. The trap-tinge is still there, but this is one of the liveliest tracks that Mike WiLL has ever crafted, the “Stoner” emcee certainly lends well to the uptempo, delivering his usual wild and uninhibited flow to match the subject matter, which includes wild sex and dealing molly (referred to as Miley Cyrus, obviously.)
Young Thug might still be a rising star in the eyes of many, but he’s creating content that is clearly connecting with an ever-growing audience, and can be sure to keep up with the bigger dogs in the game. Keep an eye out — especially you, Lil Wayne. Be sure to check out “Pacifier,” now available on iTunes and various streaming services, and stay up to date with his official tour dates on Facebook.
