unnamed (6)In what has been deemed the time of the “hookup generation,” it’s more likely than not that listeners will be able to identify with Widowspeak’s latest release “Dead Love (So Still).”

The song, which is a dream-folk blend of twangy guitars and angelic vocals, tells the tale of the non-relationship singer Molly Hamilton had when she was 19. As she told Fader, “It was one of those naive situations where I thought I was with someone and he didn’t, but the energy and emotion I’d invested in our non-relationship still made its inevitable end feel significant.”

For a situation so dismal, “Dead Love (So Still)” is remarkably upbeat and light. The song will be included in Widowspeak’s third LP All Yours due out September 4th. The album was written without hurry in numerous locations, and the way the band let the songs flow out of them naturally is evident in the feeling of this latest release.
