Out today, pop/singer-songwriter Anya Marina has released her fourth album, Paper Plane, on Good Rope Records. The New York-based artist wrote and recorded Paper Plane with noted musicians including Eric Hutchinson, Bob Schneider, and Bess Rogers (Ingrid Michaelson). The album was recorded between New York, NY and her former hometown, Portland, OR, with co-producers Dave Depper (Death Cab For Cutie), Eric Hutchinson, Leo Sidran, and Gary Philips.

Paper Plane marks the first independent release from Marina since her debut album, Miss Halfway, in 2005. The 12 songs on Paper Plane play like 12 love letters, each a meditation on relationship in its various forms. Marina’s duet with Eric Hutchinson is a track called “Ordinary Dude.” Marina says,

“I wanted to get into the head of a commitment-phobe who was on the precipice of diving into a relationship. There’s often that moment right before you dive in which is very crucial. Either you dive in, or more typically with me and relationships, you bail.”
