Trust Now, their 5th full-length album and 2nd album to be released on Paw Tracks was born out of this fantastic ritual space. Spawned from the vernal heat of the Florida swamps amidst swirling patterns of pine orchards and pre-Columbian artifacts, Prince Rama was whispered into the ears of Taraka Larson, Nimai Larson, and Michael Collins in the summer of 2007 by the clanging of prayer bells and goat-skin drums. They left the Hare Krishna farm where they were living to attend art school and form a creative nucleus in Boston. The visceral, devotional and raw “Threshold Dances” and “Zetland” were released as the culminations of those early collaborations. At this time Taraka also began working for the controversial visionary artist Paul Laffoley, and inspired by his architectural diagrams of utopic space, composed Architecture of Utopia.

Before forming Dot Hacker in 2008, the four were already established musicians, recording and touring with an impressive list of respected artists including: Beck, Gnarls Barkley, PJ Harvey, Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Butthole Surfers and Broken Bells amongst many others. Klinghoffer, the band’s lead vocalist, also currently plays guitar in The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band plans to play shows in 2012 to support the release of their debut album.

The Dunwells, called a “MUST-see” band by the U.K.’s NME, will bring their five-part harmony-laced brand of folk, rock, Americana, pop, Celtic and soul to the U.S. for their first-ever tour. The dates kick off in Memphis, TN on Thursday, February 23 at the 2012 International Folk Alliance Conference (IFAC). Last year, when The Dunwells played the 2011 IFAC, No Depression singled them out as the event’s “breakout band;” this year, the band returns as headliners of that night’s Main Showcase.

Having established himself with highly regarded hardcore acts like Amulet, it may come as a surprise that Norway’s own Torgny (aka Torgny K. Amdam) has chosen to delve into the electronic and pop realms of late. However, the most pleasant surprise is that Torgny’s recent aural explorations bear none of the awkwardness one might associate with the transition. Rather than coming off like a thick-necked gangster in an ill-fitting suit, Torgny encompasses his new synth-laced electro beats like a well-tailored second skin. Case in point, his forthcoming EP, Trilogy, which is set to be released 1/23/2012, and features not only the three original tracks, but also deft remixes of each. For example, the hipper than hip Plant Plants have done a simply stunning job with their reimagining of the already brilliant “Big Day.”

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Los Angeles announced today that Coldplay will perform live at a special iHeartRadio Benefit Concert on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at Club Nokia at L.A. LIVE. Proceeds from the show will benefit A Place Called Home and Youth Mentoring Connection, two Los Angeles based youth charities. The iHeartRadio benefit concert will be presented by Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Los Angeles radio stations KIIS FM, 98-7fm and MYFM.

Multi GRAMMY® Award-winning electronic music duo The Chemical Brothers will bring their highly anticipated concert event, The Chemical Brothers: Don’t Think to select movie theaters nationwide for a one-night event on Wednesday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. local time. FROGG consists of Louise Mills, Mo Delgado, and Luke 4000. Limbo. It’s a funny place to be, but it provided inspiration for the second album from Standard Fare, the Sheffield-based indie-pop power trio who debuted with 2010′s The Noyelle Beat, their lovelorn, melodic songs and male/female vocals making them the new darlings of the indie-pop scene. “We’re now in our mid twenties – not young and not old, not yet with kids but starting to earn money, starting to see how we fit into the wider world and how we feel about this,” says singer/bassist Emma Cooper. “The album’s lyrics are a bit more mature than our debut – we didn’t want to just write about our romantic failures and frustrations, although they’re hard to avoid!”

Electro-pop songstress Adaline is pleased to unveil her video for “The Noise”, from her recently released sophomore record Modern Romantics, available now on Light Organ Records. The clip, directed by Josh Poliquin, demonstrates the idea of ‘noise’ in the visual sphere. “When discussing the creative for the video we wanted to parallel the songnarrative by finding an abstract way to visualize noise,” says Adaline. “Paint with glowingstatic “noise” is spread on the characters in the video to symbolize theclamor of the city. Matt and Sarah of Boston, MA electro-pop duo Young London began writing music together in 2011. They quickly realized that their writing styles combined to form a unique, catchy, dance-inducing style. After their explosive debut at South by Southwest, and a subsequent tour this past summer, they headed into the studio to start working on their first full-length album.

The twenty minutes of music on Cry Along with the Babies invites you into the kitchen, art studio, and bedroom where it was recorded in 2010 and early 2011. Swedish native Soso, is compelled to execute the entirety of the creative process herself. The self-indulgent journey that is her record, That Time I Dug So Deep I Ended Up In China, is a literal metaphor as Soso is known to not be very keen on leaving her home environment. The album title has a suitable double meaning as China is the furthest, most foreign destination she could think of in contrast to the familiar and to stay true to her theme she has played around a lot with traditional Chinese instruments in her electronic productions. Soso also remembers her mother saying to her, while playing in the sandbox as a child; “Soso, if you keep digging like that, you’ll end up in China!” Well, she’s has dug herself a big hole and put a soundtrack to it. The debut album, set to be released May 1, 2012, is an intensely personal journey into the heart of Soso. On the one hand lyrically raw and lo-fi but on the other paradoxically pop in it’s unintentionally sophisticated melodies.

“Happy People” is a soulful and bittersweet track evoking an earlier time, when life was simple and free from complication. “Joaquin Phoenix” is a one-take-love-song to the decadent actor that Soso recorded impulsively after watching his mockumentary “I’m Still Here” in 2010. Opening single, “Who’s Gonna Love Me” is a slow-building pop gem that battles intimate issues like insecurity and abandonment, with a “fuck-you-attitude”. It perfectly showcases the singer’s commanding vocals and hard-hitting sound.

The festival showcases the best of vintage, modern, established and up-and-coming acts that push the envelope in mind expanding music. The music is presented in an environment embracing experimental and innovative visual art and multimedia.

Nocturnal Wonderland is a massive electronic music festival that has been steadily growing and brings the biggest names in music and dance to an audience of up to 50,000 musical enthusiasts.

Murs in association with Guerilla Union present a one day independent hip hop music festival.

There are many adjectives one could conjure to describe the world’s biggest and most famous dance music event, but in the case of Ultra Music Festival – the ‘Ultra’ bit kinda says it all. The festival tears towards its 14th edition in Downtown Miami during Miami Music Week in March 2012.

Our vision is that Treefort will provide the opportunity for Boise to play host to the national and regional music scenes while showcasing a lot of our own up-and-coming talent as well. This festival will truly be a representation of Boise and it’s scene and culture, but for reference, it has also been inspired by festivals like SXSW (austin), MFNW (portland), The UMS (denver), CMJ (nyc), MPMF (cincinnati), Troika (durham, nc) and many others.

Never Say Never Festival takes place in South Texas and is one of the hottest Spring Break parties around. Someone once said, You’ll never be able to bring down incredible bands to South Texas. Never Say Never Festival has been bringing incredible bands since 2009.

35 Denton is a walkable 4-day music festival programmed in the heart of downtown Denton, Texas, March 8-11 2012. Run by a core staff of volunteers, 35 is committed to sustaining an intimate experience that serves art with energized urban space. Above all, 35 values artists and exchange, promoting a community that transcends the event.

The inaugural Savannah Stopover Festival, capitalizing on the logistical good fortune of Savannah, Georgia’s proximity to interstates 95 and 10, will present traveling musicians with a welcoming place to play en route to Austin. The small, vibrant coastal community is rife with a unique brand of lowcountry hospitality and southern gothic ambiance, not to mention home to a burgeoning music scene, music-hungry demographic, and established arts community. The four-day festival will merge music, visual arts, technology and film components – much in the spirit of SXSW itself – in an intimate, historical setting and at a price unrivaled by any music festival of like scale and scope.

A collaborative effort of MusicFile Productions and countless volunteers, partners, vendors, and media sponsors, the Savannah Stopover will showcase over 50 bands and 63 performances in more than eight local venues. Bands will enjoy the quirky, shamelessly social elements of Georgia’s Hostess City while festival-goers will be exposed to up-and-coming bands in closer, more personal environs.

The MUSINK Tattoo Convention and Music Festival sold out its debut in Orange County in February of 2008 with over 13,000 people in attendance for the three-day lifestyle event. Hosted by Kat Von D, music headliners included: The Used, Tiger Army and Metal Skool who were joined by over 200 of the best tattoo artists from around the world.

2011 was an incredible year for festivals and electronic music. With the New Year rapidly approaching, all eyes are focused on what’s to come next with the leader being ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL (ULTRA), the world’s premiere electronic music event. Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone will have its national broadcast premiere on Monday, January 22nd, 2012 as part of public television’s AfroPoP documentary series. The series, produced by the National Black Programming Consortium (NBPC) and co-presented by American Public Television (APT), kicks off it’s new season with Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone, which documents the history of legendary Los Angeles band Fishbone.

Life is full of surprises. Nobody knows this more than Kathryn Calder. After years of playing in indie darlings Immaculate Machine, she found herself in the very unexpected position of being asked to record and tour with The New Pornographers. Before she knew it, she was inducted as a full fledged member of that group. In 2010 she once again surprised herself (and fans) by releasing her first solo album of her own compositions entitled Are You My Mother?, which would garner favorable press throughout the world and hinted a dizzying array of different avenues that the songwriter could explore in the future.

Girl In A Coma’s stellar album Exits & All the Rest has been named one of NPR’s 50 Favorite Albums of 2011. The album was released by Blackheart Records last month and received rave reviews from CNN, AOL, Rolling Stone, LA Weekly and more. The band has been playing to rapturous audiences across the country and just finished a series of packed shows up and down the California coast. French producer Douster brings his tropical rhythms to Jeffree’s plate with his latest release “Boom Skaka Laca”. Sounding like a 90’s take on dutch house and taking a vocal que from NBA JAM “Boom Shaka Laca” is guaranteed to make anyone on the dance floor move their feet. The B-Side “Pop That Bubble” rides the same vein of tropical grooves and chopped up vocals that Douster has perfected over the years.

Over the past few years, the continually evolving familial formation that is PO PO has offered the world glimpses into the psychedelic garage-rock acid trip that is their signature sound. Mad Decent is excited to announce the arrival of PO PO’s full length studio debut, Dope Boy Magick, slated for a blustery February 28th release. The synthy-electro dance band Pretty Good Dance Moves are taking their new album LIMO, which was cut at their Brooklyn apartment and in Paris, on the road with stops in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis etc and a special live session at already legendary Daytrotter studios on February 21st.

LIMO crosses electro-experimental-ambient and disco boundaries and takes a different approach from their previous recordings. Limo is 32 minutes long, composed of 8 movements and intended to be listened to as one complete work from start to finish. PGDM’s intention was to make a record, not singles! Sabina Sciubba of Brazilian Girls is the featured vocalist on LIMO and sings in 3 different languages (English, German and French).

Pretty Good Dance Moves is the songwriting and instrumental vehicle of Aaron Allietta and Jimmy Giannopoulos. Started as a studio project, the duo has written and collaborated with many different singers, such as Lissie Trullie, Genevieve Schatz and collaborated with Bjorn Yttling [Peter Bjorn & John] on various tracks over the last three years. Sabina Sciubba is the vocalist on LIMO and Angelina Lucero will be singing live with the band on all of their 2012 dates.

Art rock band from Toronto, The Darcys have played with the likes of Deerhoof, Hollerado, Tennis and more throughout 2011 leading up to the release of their debut self-titled album October 25, 2011 on Arts & Crafts. Catch them live once again for 3 special shows with labelmates Zeus and Eight and a Half a band comprised of members fromBroken Social Scene & the Stills.

Daytrotter has released their beautiful session from Australia’s bluesy-folk chanteuse Grace Woodroofe, whose debut album, Always Want, will be coming out on January 24th via Modular. Kisses and Keep Shelly in Athens are giving out a holiday mixtape. The two bands became friends during a recent tour of the West Coast. Shortly after their tour together, Kisses’ Jesse Kivel was in the LAX airport when he heard “My Favourite Things” by Panaphonic crackling though the speakers. Hearing the song inspired him to make a mix of smooth holiday grooves. After spending time with RΠЯ of Keep Shelly in Athens, Kivel knew he would be game to collaborate on the mix because, “he is the king of smooth,” he says.

The songs that compose Massachusetts 2010 were first written last year in – you guessed it – the great state of Massachusetts. Following their recording, however, those demos were set aside and left to sit while Santos spent time on the road with his main band. In the winter and spring of 2011, he returned to the 10 songs with fresh perspective and a critical distance from the context in which they were originally written. Originally trained as a painter and applying his visual artist’s focus on only the most essential compositional elements, Santos borrowed a friend’s guesthouse in rural New Jersey where he finalized the album in just a few days. He worked quickly, maintaining the impulsive freedom of the original writing process but stripping down the palette and creating an arresting sonic environment that sparkles with tantalizing abstract imagery and finely-observed details, set against a backdrop of wide open spaces.
