Xbox Live’s New iOS App Update
The My Xbox LIVE app is now available today for iPhone, iTouch, and iPad users. The app is FREE, and will keep you in touch with the LIVE community when you’re on the go. Through the app, you are able to connect with your LIVE friends, send messages, set beacons to notify other pals when you want to play games online together, track your achievements and update your avatar.
There are a few drawbacks to this app, however. You are unable to play and earn achievements with Windows Mobile Live games, and at this time users of the app cannot receive mobile notifications when receiving invites to play games. Whereas a Windows Phone will work as a virtual remote when connected to the Xbox 360 console, iUsers do not have that ability.
This is a big step in bridging the gap between Microsoft and Apple. And even though the iOS app isn’t a hundred percent identical to the Windows app, it is a move in the right direction for allowing everyone across the board to use an official app to access your live information. No word yet in regards to releasing an app for Android users at this time.
