PlayStation®Vita Official US Release Date
Sony’s PlayStation®Vita made it’s mark in the world of hand held devices last week. The PlayStation®Vita, or as it is also known: PSVita, has already made it’s debut in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan with results of over 300,000 units sold in the first two days.
What sets this apart from the previous versions of PlayStation portables? Instead of using the past interfaces of its predecessors, PSVita will use a touch screen UI where users can access the Live Area. The Live Area is a hub of apps where one can have immediate access to Trophies, music player, friends, and ability to connect to WiFi. Social networking apps like Twitter, foursquare, Facebook and Skype have already been confirmed for availability in addition to the apps built into the interface such as Near, which is described as, “…[a] social networking app that allows you to check in to real life locations and pick-up and or leave gifts for other gamers to find and use in their games. You can also locate and connect with your PlayStation®Network friends and other gamers nearby. With near you can check out which games are the most popular and highest rated by fellow gamers near your location.”
PlayStation®Vita has teamed up with AT&T to give you total free reign over where you use your device via 3G. Games and scores will be updated real time, as well as being a companion to your social networking sites.
