Mass Effect 3 Introduces Kinect™ Capabilities
Fans of BioWare’s smash hit Mass Effect 3 can check out the integrated Kinect™ capabilities in a video release today. A bit of love-hate has traversed around the interwebs as some users believe solely using voice commands won’t boost any real difference in the gaming experience.
The video below depicts gamers in different stages of combat throwing out voice commands that is fluidly picked up by the Kinect, promoting Commander Shepard to utilize the talents and weapons at will. Yelling out at squad mates to “cover me” could add that realistic touch individuals could be looking for, as a vast majority of gamers are known to call out to their characters on the screen in the midst of heated battles.
But is this enough to entice players and fans to reach for new heights during game play? Verbally saying the commands like “examine” and “bypass” when approaching data pads and doors could become minor hindrances as simply clicking proper button from the controller might be a smoother transition at times in heavy combat.
Will the Kinect™ integration make Mass Effect 3 a deeper experience? We won’t know until the game launches, and there is no word yet if PlayStation or PC players will be able to participate in the game on the level Xbox-ers will be privy to.
Mass Effect 3 launches on March 12, 2012.
