BATTLESHIP™ Video Game Announced for May 2012
In a press release today, Activision Blizzard and Hasbro® made the announcement that they will proceed with the making of the BATTLESHIP™ video game. BATTLESHIP™ will be developed by Double Helix, and will bring the nostalgia back in a futuristic twist that will involve that old school strategy with a first person shooter experience.
Yes, the video game is inspired by the upcoming Battleship film, however David Oxford of Activision Publishing promises that the game will include “…next-gen naval warfare that thrusts players into the middle of humanity’s last stand against an unfamiliar menace.”
The plot is simplistic enough: The game is played through the eyes of a demolition expert named Cole Mathis as he simultaneously directs the war on the sea while battling the onslaught on the shores.
“The merging of tactical and action elements immerses players in an epic maritime conflict. Activision is completely up to the task of delivering a high-intensity thrill ride that’s perfectly suited for today’s console owners.” – Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media and Marketing at Hasbro
Game Features Include (From the Website):
Action-Packed Gameplay: As a side story to the upcoming Universal Pictures’ film, this fast-paced FPS puts you at the forefront of an extreme alien attack. Facing hazards across land, sea, and air – this won’t be a walk in the park.
