Take Two: Epic Mickey Sequel Will be a Musical

It seems as if only Disney magic could produce a video game that was actually a musical. In a move to redeem the original Epic Mickey game where characters were speechless, this time around expect them to break out into full fledged songs on a regular basis. Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two will have voices for all characters, even the silent Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (portrayed by voice actor Frank Welker) will get a chance to sing .
Although word is not out in regards to the style or genre of the music, Warren Spector (who’s credits include “Deus Ex” and “Thief“) did reveal bits and pieces of what can be expected: It will take place at Wasteland, a sort of warped version of Disneyland, and the previous camera issues of the original Epic Mickey title has been taken into consideration as over 1,000 changes has already been made.
“There’s always been one part of the (Disney) parks that I’ve always wanted to get into Wasteland,” said Spector. “Frontierland has changed so much since it started. There’s so much forgotten history there, so Frontierland is going to get a pretty good exploration this time around, plus some other places that we’ll keep secret for now.”
Epic Mickey 2 will be multi-playform, coming to Xbox 360® , Wii™, and PlayStation®3. It will be a drop-in drop-out co-op where Mickey will always be teamed up with Oswald. In single player mode, you will control Mickey with Oswald never leaving your side. Original songs will be featured, written by composer Jim Dooley and lyricist Mike Himelstein (who worked on upcoming animated film Dorothy of Oz).
