Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC to be Released this Summer
Despite firmly standing behind the artistic direction and choices made in the closing of Mass Effect 3, fans have been in an uproar over the lack of closure they felt when Commander Shepard’s story came to an end. In a Press releasetoday from BioWare, a free DLC will be available by the summer that may put players of the game at ease.
“We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team. Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.” -Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and General Manager of EA’s BioWare Label.
There will not be additional endings in the DLC, instead it will be an expansion of the ending, and will include more cinematics and epilogues that will be migrated into the existing ending scenes. According to BioWare’s Blog these efforts were made in hopes to add clarity and additional context to the upset fans.
This will not be the only DLC coming to Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3, and PC for Mass Effect 3. More is to be expected on the way, however the exact content has not yet been released.
