Notch is self-admittedly ambitious with his new space game. The makers of Minecraft are delivering another player influenced game with 0×10 ͨ which fully intends to let the masses determine how the game will be shaped.
0×10 ͨ takes place in a parallel universe where traveling the galaxies is a privilege reserved for the rich and corporations that can afford it. In order to explain where “0×10 ͨ ” comes from, it takes a bit of understanding: 1988 brings a severe bug that hits sleep cells of all 16-bit computer systems. This leads to a required deep sleep of 0x0000 0000 0000 0001 years to last for 0x0001 0000 0000 0000 years. Presently, its’ 281 474 976 712 644 AD, people are starting to awake to lost civilization, cease of star formations, and foreboding black holes dominating the galaxy.
With the game so early in development, information is being released in small doses. Gameplay will include battles between AI and other players, mining, training, looting, planet exploration, and…Duct tape. Will 0×10 ͨ encourage multi-player playability? It is likely, and according to the site, there will be a monthly fee to joining the Multiunivers which will “emulate all computers and physics even when players aren’t logged in.” There will be no fee for single player use.
