However, he added that he still isn’t feeling the pain despite his age. He said:

“I’ve been having cardiovascular exercise for years but it’s on stage. I can’t believe I do a three-hour show without taking a breath. You assume you would be feeling it now but it’s the opposite.”

The music world meanwhile have been paying tribute to McCartney as he celebrates his 70th birthday, with Paul Weller recording a special charity cover for the occasion.

John Lydon has declared that he has nothing to do with the re-release of Sex Pistols’ ‘God Save The Queen’ in the week of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The iconic punk rocker, whose band caused controversy by releasing the original during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, revealed in a statement issued today that he has no desire to be a part of the campaign to see the track chart one place higher than it managed in 1977.

He said: “I would like to very strongly distance myself from the recent stories and campaign to push God Save The Queen for the number 1 spot over the Jubilee weekend. It is certainly not my personal plan or aim.

“I am proud of what The Sex Pistols achieved and always will be but this campaign totally undermines what The Sex Pistols stood for. This is not my campaign.”

The 56-year-old, who recently reunited with Public Image Ltd to record the band’s first new album in 20 years, continued: “I am pleased that the The Sex Pistols recordings are being put out there for a new generation however I wish for no part in the circus that is being built up around it. I am currently very focused on Public Image Ltd.”

Mel B has suggested that there’s still a possibility the Spice Girls may reform for the upcoming Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert.

Speaking to presenter Nadia Sawalha on ITV’s ‘Lorraine,’ the 36-year-old refused to confirm Melanie C’s recent comments that the band weren’t going to appear at the Buckingham Palace event on June 4:

“I never say never. I’m always up for a Spice Girls reunion.

“It’s my perfect excuse to get my boots on, get my hair going, being louder than life.”

The new ‘Dancing With The Stars Australia’ co-host fuelled rumours about their possible appearance in a Twitter message last month, but has since been contradicted by both Melanie C and then Geri Halliwell, who hinted that Victoria Beckham had declined an offer to perform at the show.
