imagesCANTJSJ3Guitar icon Slash has recorded a special song for the ‘Angry Birds’ game, it has been confirmed.

He admitted that he became an “instant fan” of the addictive game since it was originally released several years ago as a phone app so was thrilled to be asked to create a new theme that would play while the title screen is displayed on the new version of the game, ‘Angry Birds Space’.

Speaking about the “exciting” project, Slash explained that he was allowed to work on his ‘own take’ on the theme song: “When [creator] Rovio approached me about actually playing my own take on the Angry Birds theme, it went back and forth a few times between the actual Angry Birds theme note-for-note . . . and then they asked for something a little bit different.”

“I was really thrilled when I finally came up with a version that I really liked and they really liked. It’s been a lot of fun and I have to say pretty exciting – the whole process.”

imagesFlame-haired songstress Hayley Williams has revealed that she recently teamed up with MAC cosmetics to produce a 4-piece collection (shown below) in her favourite shade, orange.

Known for her eye-catching hair colour, the ‘Now’ hitmaker has created an exciting line with the popular brand that includes a lipstick, eye shadow, blush/bronzer, and nail polish, and when asked why she chose the colour orange she explained that it “matches my soul”.

Speaking to People magazine about the collaboration, she confessed that she fell in love with MAC after the first use so it was an obvious partnership: “I didn’t wear makeup at all. Photographers would beg me to wear chapstick and I’d say no.”

“I went to a [store] and picked up orange eye shadow from MAC, that was the beginning of the end. It’s been key in making me feel like I have an onstage personality.”

Williams’ collection will be available from April 9 at http://www.maccosmetics.com.

Taylor Swift: ‘I started writing songs because I had no one to talk to’

Country-pop beauty Taylor Swift has revealed that she turned to songwriting at school because she didn’t have many friends to confide in.

Speaking to the new issue of InStyle magazine, the ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ songstress explained that writing about her feelings became cathartic and helped with the loneliness she was feeling at the time:

“When you’re dealing with something like loneliness or confusion or rejection or frustration, those emotions are so jumbled up in your head. For me, the only way to condense them down into one thing is to write and three and a half minute song about it.”

Swift added that she went through a ‘tough time’ at school so setting her thoughts to music was her escape from that:

“I first started writing songs because I didn’t really have anyone else to talk to. As sad as that sounds, I was going through this really hard time at school where I didn’t have any friends. Songwriting for me just started out as therapy.”

Sir Elton John’s Malaysia concert draws protests

Iconic musician Sir Elton John is due to perform in Malaysia tomorrow, but the concert is already causing controversy and has been met with demonstrations from an Islamic group.

The ‘Crocodile Rock’ superstar will play a gig at the Genting Arena of Stars in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow night (November 29), but the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) has called on the government to stop the event on moral grounds.

Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi, a spokesperson for the PAS, told AFP that John’s sexuality and the values he promotes are destructive: “This concert must be cancelled. Artists who are involved in gay and lesbian activities must not be allowed to perform in Malaysia as they will promote the wrong values.”

“[We] demand that authorities cancel the immoral performance to protect our society from social degradation.”

Kelly Osbourne: ‘I’d never say something on camera I wouldn’t say to someone’s face’

‘Fashion Police’ co-host and singer Kelly Osbourne has revealed that honesty is something she always strives for in both on and off-camera situations.

During an interview on The Today Show, she explained that she will always say what she’s thinking and makes a point of not saying anything on her TV programme that she wouldn’t be comfortable saying to someone’s face:

“I would never say anything to anyone that I won’t say to their face and that’s something I make a real strong point of. But what’s amazing to me is what I say and what people hear is a completely different thing.”

She added that she still manages to offend sometimes and in return gets bombarded with cyber abuse:

“It just comes out of my mouth before I’ve even thought about what I’ve said because I’m not scripted in any way… sometimes I’ll say it because it’s what I really think and I’ll get all of these death threats on Twitter and I’m just like ‘It’s just my opinion, why do you care that much?’”

Nicki Minaj praises her stylist: ‘I had to thank him during my acceptance speech’

‘Starships’ rapper Nicki Minaj has admitted that she’s so relieved she remembered to thank her stylist, Terence Davidson, during her AMAs acceptance speech because he’s always been there for her.

Talking to Ryan Seacrest yesterday (November 19), Minaj explained that he has supported her since the beginning so when she accepted her awards for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ it was important to honour him:

“It’s so sad that I always forget to thank him, and he’s been creating my thing… for a few years now and he’s also one of my best friends… He’s always there rooting me on from the sidelines.”

“Ninety per cent of the time I tell him what I wanna do and he creates it… I never even knew that there was somebody out there who would kind of create the things that I saw in my brain until one day, a few years ago, we were on the set of a video and he had rollers in this wig. Half was out and half was still in.”

She added, referring to one of her looks: “I was like, ‘You know what, I kinda like that! Can you leave one side curly and one side straight and one side blonde and one side pink… I ended up wearing my hair like that.”
