Slash records song for ‘Angry Birds’ game

imagesCANTJSJ3Guitar icon Slash has recorded a special song for the ‘Angry Birds’ game, it has been confirmed.

He admitted that he became an “instant fan” of the addictive game since it was originally released several years ago as a phone app so was thrilled to be asked to create a new theme that would play while the title screen is displayed on the new version of the game, ‘Angry Birds Space’.

Speaking about the “exciting” project, Slash explained that he was allowed to work on his ‘own take’ on the theme song: “When [creator] Rovio approached me about actually playing my own take on the Angry Birds theme, it went back and forth a few times between the actual Angry Birds theme note-for-note . . . and then they asked for something a little bit different.”

“I was really thrilled when I finally came up with a version that I really liked and they really liked. It’s been a lot of fun and I have to say pretty exciting – the whole process.”

Paramore’s Hayley Williams teams up with MAC cosmetics

imagesFlame-haired songstress Hayley Williams has revealed that she recently teamed up with MAC cosmetics to produce a 4-piece collection (shown below) in her favourite shade, orange.

Known for her eye-catching hair colour, the ‘Now’ hitmaker has created an exciting line with the popular brand that includes a lipstick, eye shadow, blush/bronzer, and nail polish, and when asked why she chose the colour orange she explained that it “matches my soul”.

Speaking to People magazine about the collaboration, she confessed that she fell in love with MAC after the first use so it was an obvious partnership: “I didn’t wear makeup at all. Photographers would beg me to wear chapstick and I’d say no.”

“I went to a [store] and picked up orange eye shadow from MAC, that was the beginning of the end. It’s been key in making me feel like I have an onstage personality.”

Williams’ collection will be available from April 9 at http://www.maccosmetics.com.

Taylor Swift: ‘I started writing songs because I had no one to talk to’

Country-pop beauty Taylor Swift has revealed that she turned to songwriting at school because she didn’t have many friends to confide in.

Speaking to the new issue of InStyle magazine, the ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ songstress explained that writing about her feelings became cathartic and helped with the loneliness she was feeling at the time:

“When you’re dealing with something like loneliness or confusion or rejection or frustration, those emotions are so jumbled up in your head. For me, the only way to condense them down into one thing is to write and three and a half minute song about it.”

Swift added that she went through a ‘tough time’ at school so setting her thoughts to music was her escape from that:

“I first started writing songs because I didn’t really have anyone else to talk to. As sad as that sounds, I was going through this really hard time at school where I didn’t have any friends. Songwriting for me just started out as therapy.”

Fergie announces pregnancy

Black Eyed Peas star Fergie is pregnant with her first child.

The 37-year-old songstress took to Twitter today to announce her and husband Josh Duhamel’s happy news.

In a post on the social networking, Fergie wrote: “Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! #mylovelybabybump (sic).”

The star posted an accompanying picture of a superimposed childhood picture of herself and her actor beau.

Duhamel copied the same message on his Twitter page, writing: “Fergie and Me and BABY makes three. #MyLovelyBabyBump (sic).”

Fergie’s representative has since confirmed the news.

Fergie and Duhamel have never hidden their desire to have children. The couple – who married at the beginning of 2009 – spoke about wanting to start a family on Oprah’s Next Chapter at the end of last year.

Talking about the number of children they would like, Fergie revealed: “We negotiated that early on. Two is our number.”

Duhamel also gushed about his wife, adding she would make a fabulous mother: “My mother was a teacher. Both of her parents were teachers. We both had to work for what we got. We’re both Catholic,” he explained. “There were a lot of things that were really compatible between us. But at the end of the day, she’s just an amazing girl.”

Lady Gaga and Britney Spears star in photobook

imagesCA3KVC6DThe likes of Lady Gaga and Britney Spears are appearing in a new book of striking celebrity snaps.

A host of stars have come together in the book Icons to celebrate the careers of photographers Markus Klinko and Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri.

The collection includes snaps they have taken of a host of big name music stars, including Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

Pal-Chaudhuri told the Sunday People that their shoot with Britney Spears lasted a mammoth ten hours. He said:

“We found Britney to be very cute, fun, hard-working and professional. She’d been filming a music video for 12 hours before she got to us and kept up her enthusiasm through 10 hours more on our shoot.”

Speaking about another shoot included in the book, Klinko said that Kate Winslet was “friendly and professional”. He said:

“Kate Winslet wasn’t feeling well and had a sick child at home, so it was a challenge for her. Kate was friendly and professional, but anxious to get it done quickly.”

The singer is releasing the track ‘C’mon’ as the next cut from her new album ‘Warrior’, following on from ‘Die Young’.

She has teased fans with a sneaky snap from the shoot for the song’s accompanying video, which sees Ke$ha standing next to a large bunny.

The outlandish picture also sees another animal types surrounding the singer. Tweeting about the image, the ‘Tik Tok’ star said:

“WTF what is going on??? Will have to wait to find out #C’MON music video.”

As previously reported, Ke$ha recently issued a clarifying statement on her track ‘Die Young’ following a school shooting in the US.

Its lyrics came under fire from dissenters after 20 children were shot dead by a gunman in Connecticut.

Fazer promises N-Dubz reunion

Fazer has reassured N-Dubz fans that the group are still planning to reunite.

The trio embarked on a prolonged break in 2011, with all three members pursuing solo careers and Tulisa also landing a role on the X Factor.

A reunion has often been mooted but no date has been set and official confirmation has yet to materialise.

Speaking to the Metro, however, Fazer said that a reunion is definitely still in their plans and that a new album should surface when they eventually do reconvene. He said:

“I think 2014 might be realistic. It’s always been at the forefront of our minds to reform the band at some point. N-Dubz will always be the base, no matter what happens we’ll always come back and do N-Dubz.”

He added: “Right now we’ve got three separate commitments that we need to do, three solo commitments. T’s album is out, Dappy’s has just come out and my album’s out early part of next year. I would never want to go back out doing N-Dubz and just having the old songs to perform; we’d have to do a whole new album.”

Taylor Swift says stalker problems are getting worse

Taylor Swift has revealed that she often gets threats from stalkers.

The country-pop star has enjoyed huge fame over the past few years and it seems that has unfortunately increased the amount of over zealous fans.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Swift said that she gets “scared” when she hears of threats coming through via her security team. She said:

“I get nervous when I have stalker incidents. I try not to talk too much about it because it scares me. Sometimes you get a dude who kind of wants to steal you. That’s why I’m so grateful I have people looking after me, like [my bodyguard] Dennis.”

She added that her team often warn her to watch for specific people when out and about in public by sending her photos.

The ‘Red’ star said: “Over the past couple of years it’s got worse. I get told if there’s been an attempt or a threat. My security text me a picture and say, ‘Look out for this dude; he’s driven across the country, he’s off his meds [medication]‘, or something like that. No one has ever been successful in getting into my house or anything like that. I have an amazing security team.”

The Wanted: “We didn’t get a chance to meet One Direction in New York”

The Wanted have suggested that One Direction avoided them when they were both in New York recently at the same event.

The two British groups have been embroiled in something of feud recently after they took pot-shots at each other on Twitter.

They were both playing at a Z100 Christmas show in New York on Friday (December 7) and it was mooted that they would call off their rivalry and sort out their differences.

However, speaking to Yahoo, Max George said that the One Direction boys were in and out of the venue so speedily that they didn’t even get a chance to meet. He said:

“We didn’t see them. They were very quick to be in and out to be honest which was a shame because we wanted to but I’m sure we’ll cross paths again some time.”

George then quipped: “We try not to react too much to silly little petty banter like that.”

As previously reported, The Wanted were recently quoted as saying that they wanted to call a truce with One Direction in honour of the Christmas spirit.

Maroon 5 premiere ‘Daylight’ video

Maroon 5 have debuted the video for their latest single.

The band are releasing the track ‘Daylight’ as the latest song from their album ‘Overexposed’ and they asked fans to send them clips to include in the video.

They launched the project earlier this year and asked their fans to riff on particular themes relevant to the song.

The introduction to the song said: “In 2012, Maroon 5 asked the world for help to create something special for the song ‘Daylight’. People from all over the world came together and this is the result.”

Maroon 5 meanwhile have been nominated for two gongs at next year’s Grammy Awards.

They are up for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for their track ‘Payphone’ and the Best Pop Vocal Album prize for ‘Overexposed’.
