Justin Timberlake will return to music and compose film score

Hitmaker Justin Timberlake is set to return to music by composing the soundtrack for an upcoming movie.

The ‘SexyBack’ singer will provide the score, which will be his first ever, for the upcoming film ‘The Devil In The Deep Blue Sea’. Coincidentally, his fiancée Jessical Biel has been confirmed to star in the big-screen project.

The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Timberlake will serve as the production’s general music supervisor.

Last month, it was announced that the superstar had turned designer for a special homeware line entitled HomeMint and he admitted that it “felt like a really natural” progression, but it looks like he will return to his musical roots later this year for ‘The Devil In The Deep Blue Sea’.

Timberlake recently took to social networking site Twitter (May 21) to pay his respects to the late Robin Gibb, who passed away on May 20 following a battle with cancer, and wrote: “We have lost a truly brilliant musician today. One of my idols. My heart goes out to the Gibb family in this time of sorrow…RIP Robin.”

Eminem on creating new music: ‘I’m getting into my next record a little bit’

Rap sensation Eminem has revealed that he has started working on a brand new solo album.

His spokesperson, Dennis Dennehy, recently admitted to the Detroit Free Press that the ‘Lose Yourself’ star had put a movie project on the backburner in order to clear up his schedule for studio time, and Eminem has now confirmed this information.

Speaking to Hot 97′s Peter Rosenberg, the hitmaker explained that he is tying up loose ends with the Slaughterhouse record and has begun thinking about making his own new music:

“Well right now I’m finishing everything up on the Slaughterhouse album and kinda getting into my next record a little bit. So that’s basically the couple of things that I’ve been working on.”

Meanwhile, Eminem also added that Slaughterhouse would play the MetLife Stadium for Summer Jam on June 3.

JLo unveils new single ‘Goin’ In’

Jennifer Lopez has unleashed her brand new single, ‘Goin’ In’, which also features hitmaker Flo Rida.

The songstress performed the cut live on last night’s (May 23) American Idol season finale and it will also be included on the official soundtrack for ‘Step Up: Revolution’.

Although the song hasn’t yet been given a UK release date, it is available to download from iTunes in the USA now.

Meanwhile, JLo’s ‘Dance Again’ is set to make an impressive debut in the UK’s Top 40 this coming Sunday (May 27) after it entered the midweek chart update at No.8.

Earlier this week the superstar announced UK and Ireland shows as part of her upcoming ‘Dance Again’ tour and will perform at Dublin’s O2 Arena on October 19 before headlining London’s O2 Arena on October 22.

Following the speculation that suggests Lopez won’t return to American Idol for the next season, she took to social networking site Twitter to clear up the reports and explained: “There is no truth to reports that say I am definitely leaving Idol. All I said was I haven’t decided what I am doing next year. #mediaremix.”

Dark Horses have announced a London show at Electrowerkz on 13th June.

Fronted by Swedish siren Lisa Elle, a holy communion of Grace Slick and Siouxsie Sioux, Dark Horses are a leather-clad, neo rock outfit, whose name is proudly emblazons upon their black motorcycle jackets… gang chic style, along with the band’s motif… the mysterious red pyramid and the all seeing eye. Dark Horses come across as Stooges meets the Manson Family, mixed with Andy Warhol’s Factory art collective. And this only fuels the band’s mystique.

Live they they will present their own unique blend of Banshee’s guitar invocation, mixed with an healthy dose of Krautrock. Having already done tours with both Kasabian and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in the not too distant pass, this will be a night, I promise you won’t wanna miss!!

Kelly Clarkson releases new video

Kelly Clarkson has unveiled the video for her track ‘Dark Side’.

The song is the latest release to come off her 2011 album ‘Stronger’, following the likes of ‘Mr. Know It All’ and ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’.

The video for ‘Dark Side’ sees Clarkson sing the lyrics, with numerous shots of people going through troubled times.

As previously reported, the American Idol star is set to hit the UK later this year in promotion of the album ‘Stronger’.

The jaunt kicks off in Manchester on October 12 before finishing up at London’s Wembley Arena on October 20

Rihanna performs new single on American Idol

Rihanna performed on American Idol last night (May 23) as the show’s series reached its conclusion.

The singer performed her new single ‘Where Have You Been’ after being rolled onto the stage in what looked like a giant cube.

Rihanna meanwhile posted a series of images from her time at the show, including one of judge Steven Tyler on screen singing with the caption: “I’m in love.”

She also posted an image of herself backstage wearing a hat.

Rihanna meanwhile recently joined Jay-Z and Kanye West on stage in London for a couple of tracks.

She performed the Kanye track ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ and also Jay-Z’s ‘Run This Town’, much to the delight of the surprised fans.

Nicki Minaj’s ‘Pink Friday’ tour to be “intimate but big”

Nicki Minaj’s creative director Laurieann Gibson has revealed that the singer’s ‘Pink Friday’ tour will be “intimate but big” at the same time.

Gibson has worked with the superstar on the tour as she promotes her new album ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’.

Speaking to MTV News, Gibson said that the ‘Pink Friday’ tour will be a “real rap show” and that fans are in for a treat. She said:

“I love [when] I heard Roman Reloaded. I loved her delivery. I love the way she flows. So the Pink Friday Tour is really good and it’s kind of like a glimpse back to what a real rap show is. It’s intimate but big at the same time.”

Gibson added that it was initially a “challenge to get through a 70-minute show” but that they ended up with something that she is “really, really proud of”.

Band of Skulls Announce ‘The Devil Takes Care of His Own’ single (2nd July) + Headline Brixton show (December)

Band Of Skulls have announced details of the release of a new single and their biggest U.K. headline shows to date.

‘The Devil Takes Care of His Own’ will be released on Sunday July 1st 2012 through Electric Blues Recordings and they play London’s Brixton Academy in December.

Taken from their second album, ‘Sweet Sour’, which was released in February and entered the UK album chart at number 14, that week’s highest new entry, the B-side of the single will be a James Lavelle remix of ‘Sweet Sour’.

The album was recorded at Rockfield studios in Wales with producer Ian Davenport and mixed in Los Angeles by Nick Launay (Nick Cave / PIL / Yeah Yeah Yeahs).

Their recent UK headline tour culminated with a sold-out London Roundhouse show in March and they also appeared at this year’s SxSW andCoachella festivals.

Set to play this summer’s Isle of Wight, T in the Park and Reading / Leeds Festivals they also have announced three U.K. headline dates, with more to be announced for November & December. The details of the dates are as follows:

The bustling coffee shop in downtown Burbank Ca was no match for VETTE’s front woman Dawn Demone’s effervescent personality. With her blond hair pulled back in a side braid and a smile that won’t quit she sat down with Ellenwood exclusively to share cup a Joe and her thoughts on her band VETTE.

How did Vette come about?

Dawn smiled and began to gush with excitement, “I wanted to start a band that provided a fun concert experience and a fun listening experience, that promoted singing along and an active audience participation in the show.” Inspired by the Josie and the Pussy Cat soundtrack, Dawn began writing music in the similar feel. She bought a guitar and taught herself to play. Music has always been a part of Dawn’s life having played in the drum line in school, piano and sang in the choir.

What is most important to VETTE when going on stage?

Dawn and the Band VETTE is a Los Angeles Based rock band that pushes the boundaries of both POP and Rock while providing a full stage audience experience. Vette is striving for a more classic and epic feel, think Arena experience. Vette is already acquiring a steady fan base that shows incredible dedication to the band, by either bringing signed memorabilia to each of the shows or just that one sweat towel that says “I’m here to ROCK!!” Dawn says, “When certain people show up, I know I have my singer and dancers here! It really helps to get me excited for the show. It really is all about giving back to the audience.”

In addition to having their EP Heartbreak 101 out the band Vette has also been featured in MTV’s Good Vibes as a cartooned version of the band using their songs She Got and Radio. The band was so excited to be featured; “It was a moment of validation, something tangible that we could show to our parents.”
